CLINICAL CHEMISTRY

CLINICAL CHEMISTRY a.k.a CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY:
Clinical chemistry is an aspect of medicine where chemical components in body fluids are measured. The most common specimens tested in clinical chemistry are blood and urine. Many different tests exist to test for almost any type of chemical component in blood or urine. Components may include blood glucose, electrolytes, enzymes, hormones, lipids (fats), other metabolic substances, and proteins.
LIVER FUNCTION TEST
Liver function tests are groups of blood tests that give information about the state of the liver.
RENAL FUNCTION TEST
Analysis of blood and urine for the evaluation of kidney (renal) function.
LIPID METABOLISM
Lipid metabolism is the synthesis and degradation of lipids in cells, involving the break down or storage of fats for energy. Fasting sample (10-12hrs after dinner or last meal for the day) is the recommended
We Do:
  • Cholesterol Estimation
  • Triglyceride Estimation
  • Lipid profile
GLUCOSE ESTIMATION
This is the evaluation of blood (serum) to determine the concentration of glucose in the blood. Fasting sample is best for this estimation except for random estimation with can be done at any time of the day.
We Do:
  • Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) Estimation
  • Random blood Sugar (RBS) Estimation
  • 2 Hour post prandial
  • Glucose tolerance test
  • Glycated Haemoglobin (HbA1C)
  • CSF glucose estimation

NEONATAL JAUNDICE

Jaundice is a yellow discoloration of the skin, mucous membranes, and the whites of the eyes caused by increased amounts of bilirubin in the blood. Jaundice is diagnosed by estimating bilirubin concentration.

We do:

  • Serum Bilirubin Estimation (Quantitative)
  • Icterometeric Estimation (Less invasive).

C-REACTIVE PROTEINS
C-reactive protein (CRP) is a substance produced by the liver in
response to inflammation.
PROCALCITONIN
Procalcitonin is a substance produced by many types of cells in the
body, often in response to bacterial infections but also in response to
tissue injury.
